UNPLUG
THE CURLING IRON NOW! Whew, that was close. Inevitably when
a
curling iron becomes stuck the poor victim panics and forgets to unplug
the infernal thing, but you may already know this. Sorry.
Once the curling
iron in unplugged AND HAS COOLED, take a rat tail comb, sturdy
toothpick,
or similar thin pointy item and gently begin to work the hair
free.
Be careful not to poke anyone. Begin at the hair ends, not at the
scalp end. This can take quite awhile and is awkward to
accomplish
alone. If after an hour the curling iron is still lodged, you
will
need to head for your salon. (pun intended).
It is likely
that at least some of the hair was singed and will need to be
cut.
Sometimes so much hair is singed that an entire new look is
required.
There are curling irons available that have retractable bristles, but
they
are usually only sold to professionals. They cost about $50.00,
but
are great to use and have multiple attachments.
If the scalp
is burned or blistering has occurred, please consult your doctor
immediately.
